Lubrication System Overview

The principle of introducing a friction reducing film of solid, liquid or gas between two sliding surfaces to reduce resistance to motion and subsequently wear is known as lubrication. The film is called the lubricant and to introduce it between the faces is to lubricate. It is an age old concept as centuries ago animal fat was used to lubricate axles of ox carts on which the wheels rotated. Modern machinery is a lot more complex than the ox cart and imposes a rigorous standard of performance on both the lubricant and it's delivery system. The task of lubrication correctly calls for skill, initiative and above all responsibility.
